Siya Seya is a two time Savanna Comics’ Choice Award winner. He has written and released over five one man comedy specials over 13 years of his career span. A creative writer, script writer, actor and events producer. He was born in the town of East London, South Africa, and grew up in Port Elizabeth where he later graduated at MSC College in the Radio and TV Broadcasting production program. While looking for work opportunities in Cape Town, 2006, Siya Seya was finally introduced to stand up comedy. He’s first stand up comedy performance was a bold move for a newcomer, as he hosted a one man show at a small theatre to less than five people in attendance. That gave him motivation to keep aiming higher and do better and he began building his comedy career as an English comic in Port Elizabeth and Cape Town for a few years. He then realised how much more power he commanded in his mother tongue isiXhosa on stage, and in 2015 co produced the first ever 100% Xhosa comedy shows in the Cape Town Khayelitsha area, where he gave platform to and mentored numerous up and coming ‘vernac’ comedians.

After being introduced to comedy greats Skhumba Hlophe and then David Kau, Siya finally grew the courage to move to Johannesburg with only one month’s rent in pocket to further pursue his dreams in 2016. Since then Siya Seya has written and produced five One Man Comedy specials, performed in all nine provinces of the country as well as eSwatini. He has headlined for the biggest stages in comedy like the Blacks Only Comedy Show to an audience of over 12 000 people, Comedy Under The Sun with Mashabela Galane, Big Banger Comedy Show by Skhumba Hlophe and many more. He has performed on Television comedy platforms like Comedy Central’s Laugh In Your Language segment, Mzansi Comedy Nights on Mzansi Magic channel, Verified on SABC 1, Bantu Hour on SABC 2 hosted by comedy legend Kagiso Lediga. Siya Seya will always be remembered as the comedian with the ‘Gap’ but more importantly for changing the game and creating opportunities for stand up comedy as a whole in the Eastern and Western Cape provinces which hold the bulk of his followers.
