Andrew Maluleke

Chief Executive Officer


Andrew ’s rise in the hotel industry is impressive. He joined Protea Hotel Midrand in 1993 as Porter/Driver and was part of the opening Team. He gained experience in several management positions at Protea Hotel Midrand. In 2005 he was appointed General Manager of Protea Hotel Transit at OR Tambo International Airport. He was GM there for 3 years , after which he moved to Protea Hotel Richards Bay where he received the Juiced Award for spectacular Guest service. In 2010 Andrew proceeded to Protea Hotel Samrand where he was GM for 5 years and oversaw the hotel's major refurbishment . In early 2015 , Andrew proceeded to manage Blue Diamond Boutique Hotel, the first property under the management of the @Baobab Hospitality Group.

Thabo Rafuthu

Chief Operating Officer


Thabo Rafuthu began his career in 1998 at Protea Hotel Midrand. His passion for the industry saw him climb the corporate ladder from humble waiter to General Manager. He was instrumental as the opening team member of African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel and Protea Hotel Fire&Ice Cape Town. While he was the General Manager at Protea Hotel Transit, his first hotel as GM, he won the Protea Hotels Profitable Standard award in 2009. In 2011 he was appointed the opening General Manager of Protea Hotel Roodepoort and has taken the occupancy from a mere 30% occupancy to currently 80%.

Kevin Berling

Chief Finance Officer


Kevin started his career as a porter at Club Mykonos Langebaan in 1989. In 1997 he was part of the opening team for the Westcliff Johannesburg - Orient Express Hotels where he developed and implemented policies and procedures of the administration and revenue systems. He later joined the Protea Hotel Group as a Financial Manager for the then newly opened Protea Hotel Wanderers and was transferred to Protea Hotel Cumberland to change the manual accounting system to computerized. He than moved to Protea Hotel Midrand where he was part of the major refurbishment team and again was transferred to Protea Hotel Centurion to clean up the set of books and then proceeded to African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel and was task to bring expenses in line after the 2008 recession. His experience spans over corporate hotels as well as with large banqueting facilities

Nonhlanhla Ramoroka

Sales and Marketing Executive


In 2004 after completing her cabin crew training at QAS Aviation Academy, Nonhlanhla Ramoroka was set for the service industry. Over the years she gained experience in sales within the Foschini Group, prior to joining Protea Hospitality Group in 2007 in the sales department. Her eight years at Protea Hospitality Group comprises of the acquisition and maintenance f of clients across different market segments by forming and strengthening solid relationships ,dealing with players in the procuring of travel accommodation for the hotel group. This was accomplished in service of Protea Hotel Samrand, Protea Hotel Sea Point, Protea Hotel Fire & Ice Cape Town and Protea Hotel O.R Tambo.

John Phaleng

Quality Assurance Executive


John is a talent and resourcing specialist, with twelve years of proactive recruitment for scarce and critical skills using the latest trends in the industry. He has been involved in application of best Quality Assurance Systems, training and skills development facilitation, recruitment and selection, EE planning, skills development and facilitation amongst other HR roles. John holds a Diploma in Human Resources management from the University of Johannesburg, a National Diploma in Food Technology and is currently furthering his studies towards a B.Tech degree in Food Technology.

Solomon Kgatle

Operations Executive


Solomon started his Hospitality career as a Porter/Driver at Protea Hotel Midrand in 1996. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to reception and later to the position of assistant Front Office Manager. In 2003 he joined the opening Team at African Pride Melrose Arch as Assistant Front Office Manager and he later joined the opening Team at Protea Hotel Mafikeng as Front Office Manager. In 2007 he joined Kievitskroon Country Estate as a Rooms Division Manager and was later promoted to General Manager. In 2015 he joined Shumba Valley Lodge as A General Manager, a position he served diligently for three years. In 2018 he moved to 26D South Lodge as a General Manager.
